On 12 October 2020, the Alfred Wegener Institute's research vessel Polarstern returned from her one-year MOSAiC expedition in the Arctic Ocean. The several hundred scientists now have to evaluate the data they collected under way in order to document the Arctic climate system, a machinery of many intermeshing facets – an endeavor that will take several years to accomplish.

On 11 September, the shareholders of Werum Software & Systems AG elected a new Supervisory Board at their Annual General Meeting - unanimously and without abstentions.


The year 2019 is of special importance to Werum Software & Systems AG as the company, which commenced as "Entwicklungsbüro Wulf Werum", is celebrating its 50th anniversary!

After Wulf Werum's untimely death in 1982, Hartmut Krome and Dr Hans Windauer founded the company "Werum Datenverarbeitungssysteme GmbH" together with the then employees and successfully expanded the business over time.


Lueneburg, 07 February 2019 – As from 07 February 2019 the Supervisory Board of Werum Software & Systems AG has appointed Mr Ralf Günther as member of the Executive Board. Mr Günther has been working with Werum for more than 20 years in positions involving increasing degrees of responsibility. In his most recent position as Head of Programs he was in charge of the operational execution of all customer projects and the advancement of Werum's platforms and frameworks.


Lueneburg, 22 November 2018 – Acceptance of the Data Management System (DMS) by Werum Software & Systems (Werum) for a Polar helicopter was successfully performed at Heli Service International in Emden, Germany, from 05 to 07 November. The helicopter is part of one of the expeditions of the Alfred Wegener institute (AWI).


The foundation of Werum was laid at the end of the 1960s by software pioneer Wulf Werum. When he died long before his time in 1982, Hartmut Krome and Dr Hans Windauer founded Werum Datenverarbeitungssysteme GmbH together with the then employees. In the years until 2013, they succeeded in developing the company to evolve into the internationally operating company Werum Software & Systems AG with 500 employees.
