Werum and Satake partner on major automotive testing project for BYD in China

As part of the project, one of the region's largest automotive wind tunnel facilities will be built in China, featuring four state-of-the-art wind tunnels

Lueneburg/Shanghai, June 2026 – Werum Software & Systems AG and Satake Corporation have entered into a strategic partnership for a major automotive testing project for BYD in China. The cooperation agreement was signed in Shanghai by Christian Sommer, Chairman of the Executive Board at Werum Software & Systems AG, and Benjamin Zhang, Managing Director of Satake China.

As part of the project, one of the region's largest automotive wind tunnel facilities will be built in China, featuring four state-of-the-art wind tunnels. Werum will supply its Wind Tunnel Control System (WTCS), which serves as the central automation platform for the entire facility. As the local partner, Satake will be responsible for on-site integration as well as long-term service and maintenance.

The partnership combines Werum's long-standing expertise in test automation with Satake's extensive experience in the design and construction of climatic chambers and climatic wind tunnels. Together, the two companies are creating the foundation for a high-performance, future-ready testing infrastructure for the automotive industry.

This partnership strengthens our presence in the Chinese market and marks another important milestone in our collaboration with the international automotive industry. The trust placed in our control system for wind tunnels and test beds confirms our technological leadership and our many years of experience in automating complex testing facilities.

The project also represents an important milestone for Werum's engineering team in Lueneburg. Delivering the automation solution for four wind tunnels requires sophisticated system architecture, engineering expertise and seamless system integration, while providing the WTCS team with the opportunity to further expand its capabilities through a major international project.

"With Satake, we have a strong partner who shares our commitment to quality and brings excellent market expertise," Sommer added. "Together, we can support our customers in China throughout the entire project lifecycle – from implementation to the long-term operation of the facility."
