Focus on young IT talent: "Zukunftstag" and "Azubi-Wheel-Dating"
The "Zukunftstag" initiative offered numerous students a direct insight into the world of IT. At the "Azubi-Wheel-Dating" event companies and applicants held informal job interviews in the gondolas of a Ferris wheel.
Lüneburg, 5 May 2026 – During "Zukunftstag", Werum welcomed many students from grades 5 to 10 from various schools across the district to its site in Lüneburg. The event was designed to be hands-on rather than observational: participants gained their first programming experience and even assembled computers themselves.
For those unable to attend in person, Werum also took part in a digital Future Day, offering virtual insights into IT career paths within the company.
We are delighted by the strong interest and hope to see some of these participants again in the IT industry or perhaps even at Werum in the future.
Just a few days later, activities continued in Lüneburg with a unique recruiting event: "Azubi-Wheel-Dating". In the gondolas of a Ferris wheel, companies and prospective trainees held informal job interviews in a relaxed atmosphere high above the city.
Werum was one of 35 regional companies participating, using the opportunity to hold numerous engaging discussions with potential young talents – under bright sunshine and with panoramic views over the city.
The format deliberately embraced an unconventional setting: instead of traditional interviews, the focus was on personal interaction. In a short time, around 240 conversations took place, covering nearly 60 different apprenticeship professions – a clear indication of how effective such alternative formats can be.
The event was organized in collaboration with numerous regional partners. Overall feedback was highly positive: young participants praised the relaxed atmosphere and the wide range of opportunities, while companies highlighted the value of direct and meaningful connections. From Werum’s perspective, the initiative was a complete success.
“In times when many apprenticeship positions remain unfilled, innovative formats like "Azubi-Wheel-Dating" are more important than ever for attracting young talent,” said Christian Sommer, CEO of Werum.
