Customer Forum “Industry Meets Science”: Networking, AI and Practical Insights

Lüneburg, October 2026 – How much can industry and science learn from each other? Quite a lot, as the challenges they face are often more similar than one might think. This became clear at our customer forum on 1 and 2 October in Lüneburg. Around 60 participants spent two days exchanging ideas, attending expert presentations and gaining practical insights.

Exchanging Ideas on Current Challenges

Networking among customers from different industries was at the heart of the event. Key topics included digital sovereignty, artificial intelligence and the management of complex data. The presentations highlighted the diversity of application areas while demonstrating just how much industry and science have in common.

Practical Examples from Different Industries

Frank Heidemann opened the event with an overview of the journey from neural networks to AI applications in machines and testing.

This was followed by practical insights from our customers, including sovereign data management for Germany’s research fleet with Insightics Marine, energy consumption forecasting, the global rollout of IT systems for test management, and AI applications for space propulsion systems.

The event concluded with a keynote by Prof. Dr. Ricardo Usbeck from Leuphana University Lüneburg on neuro-symbolic AI. He demonstrated how different sources of knowledge can be linked and put to practical use.

Networking Beyond the Programme

Participants rounded off the first day at an evening event at the Museum Lüneburg, including a little journey back in time to the Hanseatic era with Playmobil.
