| In 1996 already, the desire for an eCommerce solution arose to connect GEHE online with their customers. The requirement profile complied with the pharmacies' needs. GEHE-POINT went online after about nine months of development work. Today there are more than 5,000 pharmacies using the eCommerce system to promote their sales and supporting the online connection to the GEHE overall catalogue with about 115,000 articles. |

| In addition to the overall catalogue of GEHE, the POINT user will find the topic information of seven integrated knowledge databases. For the pharmacist this means a high level of consulting competence and he saves a considerable amount of time. So, this is the best way for him to prepare for his customers' requests. He can broaden his own knowledge by mutual exchange of information in the experts discussion forums. POINT informs on new products, special offers, programs, training courses, line-specific subjects, interesting events and news. |

| System Integration |

| Each order placed via GEHE-POINT directly enters the order system of GEHE taking into account the respective pharmacist's terms and conditions and his appropriate branch office. This provides a high level of comfort in ordering. It is no longer necessary to enter orders twice due to the adoption of orders placed in GEHE-POINT and due to the entire data on invoicing and expiration dates being exchanged with the local merchandise information system. These features provide an integration into the system environment of GEHE. |

| The Technology behind POINT |
|
|
The user interface as well as the supply of the GEHE-POINT functions consists of dynamically generated HTML pages. JAVA Applets are used to represent complex contents or the illustration of complex functions. GEHE-POINT has an own system database to administer and store system data, such as user master data and user rights, interface layout, navigation functions and the imaging of user sessions. The database management system applied for this is ORACLE 8i.
The POINT server modules are administered by the Oracle Application Server. The modules have been designed by means of PL/SQL, serverside-JAVA and C++.
