The joint venture Biesterfeld Scheibler Linssen GmbH & Co. (BSL) has specialized in marketing and consulting as well as warehousing and logistics for any areas in the agricultural product sector, as well as home appliances and gardening. The history of BSL goes back to 1848 when the company Werhahn started trading with fertilizers. In 1994, their successors Biesterfeld, Scheibler and Linssen merged.

BSL-Online® ® is the interactive information and communication portal of the wholesaler Biesterfeld Scheibler Linssen GmbH & Co, who sell any supplies and accessories for farming, gardening, and household. This portal is a B2B solution that has been online since 1st January 2000 and proved to be a big success. In the same year, the Minister for Economy, Technology, and Traffic of Germany's Lower Saxony State Government, Dr. Peter Fischer, honored BSL-Online® as an Innovative eCommerce Application.

BSL-Online® is much more than just a B2B solution. In addition to the comprehensive product catalog with order placement functionality, logistics information and online sales order processing system, it provides information on topics like farming, crop protection, and supplies for house and garden. Apart from the News function there is a variety of options for getting product information. Visitors and customers of BSL-Online® can also access consultancy pages, forums, chat rooms or online discussions with experts.

| Integration into existing system architecture |

The interface to an ERP system is an essential aspect for implementing an eCommerce solution successfully. BSL-Online® is integrated into the SAP R/2 environment. An EDIFACT download feature enables customers to directly transfer invoices to their IT environment.

| Technical implementation |

Werum Software & Systems AG and BIT-SERV GmbH (www.bit-serv.de) partnered to design and implement this B2B solution as well as two further Internet applications for the Biesterfeld group. Werum supplied technical components for the eBusiness platform and advised BIT-SERV on the various aspects of a rights and security system.
